Retro Macrame Owl Wall Hanging

This is the second of two macrame wall hangings I made this week.  I found this project in an old macrame book by Lynne Tucker.  This is an oldie but you can still find it for sale on eBay and other used-book sites out there.  I found it at a thrift store.

I used 3mm jute, some of which I dyed purple with the Jane Davenport inks that I described in my previous post.  The 2mm green jute I bought from the garden center at Walmart.  I made most of the beads you see, including the eyes, from polymer clay, as in the wall hanging in my last post.  I also added a few green vintage glass beads to the green cords on the tail.  As with the other macrame piece, I used sticks that I found outside after heating them in a 200 degree oven for about 30 minutes.

The V-shaped piece making up the top of the head is coated 16 gauge garden wire that I braided together to make it thicker and less bendable so to hold its shape.  My progress photos are in order.  I had fun making this and feel it was a success!

As always, please feel free to comment below or email me with any questions!  Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
