Polymer Clay Chess & Checkers Set

The following photos illustrate my latest project, a polymer clay chess and checkers set that was inspired by the miniseries 'Queen's Gambit', which I watched during the height of the covid pandemic. Below you will find all of the materials I used to make it, plus each step in the process. I need to note that instead of making or ordering a custom game box and chess board, I chose to buy a checkers set from a thrift store and repurpose it by covering the box top with my own name and logo, which I designed and printed on my home computer. Materials: 16 pennies, 16 nickels (for each chess piece base - pennies for pawns and nickels for all others Q-tips (with cotton tips removed. *Note: you can also use round coffee stirs instead. Macrame Booty Bag

This project was fun but challenging! This bag is actually my second attempt. My first attempt turned out too small to hold my cell phone and to miss-shapen for my liking. I'm happy with the way this turned out but if anyone else is trying this for the first time, I suggest keeping your bag shape a simple rectangle or square! I used 3mm cotton cord from Hobby Lobby and 1" nylon strapping for the strap. The hardware/clasp I also got from Hobby Lobby in the fabric/notions section of the store. I chose a 2-way stretch knit for the lining so it would give a bit when I placed items into the bag. Please feel free to email me with any questions regarding the construction.
